William Adams Work Experience Program

Applications for 2024 are Now Closed

Thank you for your interest in our Work Experience Program. Please note that we are no longer accepting applications for 2024. Applications will reopen in January 2025. We look forward to welcoming new applicants then!

Our Work Experience Program provides opportunities for Australian students interested in a career at William Adams. We have a multitude of opportunities for secondary school students to undertake.

You can spend time with the following roles/ areas:

  • Workshop – Diesel Technicians, Auto Electricians, Boilermakers & Machinists
  • Parts/Warehousing
  • Finance and Administration
  • Sales and Marketing
  • People and Culture
  • Information Technology

Also, it’s important to note that if you are considering an Apprenticeship, completing Work Experience in one of our Workshops across Victoria or Tasmania could cement your decision to become a fully qualified Caterpillar Tradesperson. Think BIG!

For Students & Parents

If interested in Work Experience please fill in the above form and speak with your school coordinator, and let them know that we will be in touch (within the next 3 business days with the next steps). Also, know we will always endeavour to get your selected dates (ensuring at least 1 month’s notice is given), but unfortunately, this may not be possible in some instances. We will work with your school on an alternative, if this can be arranged.

Prior to starting you will need to complete (along with your parents and your school) any relevant paperwork and the online learning modules that will be sent to the email address you provide.

For Schools

Adequate timeframe – we require a minimum 1 month notice for all Work Experience requests. Noting there is no guarantee on dates but we will definitely try and work a solution if the student’s dates are unavailable.

Paperwork – Placements will not be 100% confirmed unless we have the Work Experience Placement Agreement (that the school will supply) from the relevant state government (Vic, Tas or NSW (in some cases). This paperwork must be signed by the student, parents & the school before placement can be undertaken. There is other forms and information that we will give you please ensure that this is completed or given to the student to complete.

Insurance –  Government school students are covered by public liability and third-party property and personal accident insurance through the relevant State or Territory Government. Non-government schools have separate insurance arrangements. All schools are required to provide evidence of adequate insurance coverage before placement can be undertaken.
