About the roles

 

Senior Manager - Strategy

The Senior Manager - Strategy is responsible for leading the development of Australian Retirement Trust's (ART's) organisation strategy and supporting each Business Unit in embedding and delivering the enterprise strategy. This involves identifying growth opportunities, analysing the external environment (market trends, regulatory changes, competitors), and aligning ART's aspirations with actionable strategies.

 

Reports to: General Manager - Strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Lead the development and continuous refinement of the enterprise strategy, ensuring alignment with ART's purpose and member outcomes.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Partner with the business to develop recommendations and strategic pathways to capitalise on opportunities or solve business problems.
  • Business Unit Strategy: Partner with the business to develop strategic plans for each business unit.
  • Global Best Practice: Ensure an outside-in perspective informs strategy development.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and potential areas for growth and expansion.
  • Acquisitions and Partnerships: Evaluate and recommend potential acquisitions or partnerships to add capability or growth.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership and across business units to ensure strategic initiatives are effectively developed and prioritised.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate the strategy and progress to internal and external stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding and commitment.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Drive innovation by identifying and implementing best practices, process improvements, and new technologies.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the strategy team.

Strategy Manager

The Strategy Manager supports the development of the organisation's strategy and assists each Business Unit in embedding and delivering the enterprise strategy. This involves identifying growth opportunities, analysing the external environment (market trends, regulatory changes, competitors), and aligning ART's aspirations with actionable strategies.

 

Reports to: Senior Manager - Strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Support the Senior Manager - Strategy in developing and refining the enterprise strategy.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Partner with the business to develop recommendations and strategic pathways to capitalise on opportunities or solve business problems.

  • Acquisitions and Partnerships: Support the Senior Manager - Strategy, in evaluating and recommending potential acquisitions or partnerships.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders and across business units to ensure strategic initiatives are effectively developed.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Support communication of the strategy and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Support innovation by identifying and implementing best practices, process improvements, and new technologies.

Both roles are on a permanent basis.

 

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:  

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, or a business-related field.
  • Experience in strategy development or strategy execution. 
  • Knowledge of Prudential Standard SPS 515 Strategic Planning and Member Outcomes and associated regulatory guides.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to convert raw data and information into insights and recommendations in a timely fashion. 
  • Knowledge of the Australian superannuation system, dynamics and regulatory landscape. 
  • Strong written, presentation (PowerPoint), and communication skills, including the ability to succinctly communicate key issues in a timely fashion with senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborative work style, which includes the ability to negotiate, build consensus and seek guidance where appropriate. 
  • Understanding of strategic and business planning frameworks. 
  • Experience in portfolio reviews and asset evaluation for merger, partner or divestment activity.
