About the Role
Located in the heart of Airlie Beach, SeaLink Whitsundays is a division of Sealink Marine and Tourism - Australia's largest Marine and Tourism company, incorporating Red Cat Adventures and Whitsunday Jet skis.
Primarily the role is responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance of the company's fleet for the Shute Harbour Operations and Hayman Island Ferry Services, and will ensure excellence is maintained in standards, safety and reliability at all times. This role is critical to the service and maintenance agreement with Hayman Island ensuring alignment and delivery on expectations.
- Trade Qualified Diesel Fitter in the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the Whitsundays Marine Fleet and infrastructure facilities.
- Perform the maintenance on vessels and other company assets when and as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Regular inspections and maintenance of vessels and machinery.
- Support the Whitsundays business as directed by the Management Team.
- Appropriately represent SeaLink, which shall include maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and conduct.
- Ensure the Work Health and Safety obligations of themselves and their co-workers are not jeopardized by their actions/ inactions whilst at work.
- Ensure that the procedures of the Environmental License and Environmental Management Program as directed to them are adhered to.
- Ensure housekeeping is completed at regular intervals.
You will be required to work 40 hours per week on average plus any emergency callouts during after hours. You will work in close conjunction with the Maintenance Manager and Operations Manager.
This is a key role within the organization and requires energy, commitment, initiative, teamwork, multi-skilling, and time management skills.
About You
- Trade qualifications Mechanical Fitter / Electrician - Mechanical or Electrical experience
- Strong work ethics and 'Can Do' Attitude
- Able to perform in a team environment and work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, able to effectively liaise with internal stakeholders and contractors
- The ability to present reports and maintain required records
- Good troubleshooting skills
- Able to work flexible hours
These attributes will be complimented as benefits for the role in the following areas:
- Solid mechanical background with Caterpillar diesel engine experience
- Marine field hand-on experience
- Electronic devices or circuit boards maintenance experience
- knowledge of health & safety obligations
- C Class driver's license.
- Recreational boat license.
- Confined space and gas test atmosphere training (desirable).
- Working at heights training (desirable).
- Forklift Licence (preferred)
- Marine Engine Driver's Ticket - not essential
- Senior First Aid / Advanced Resuscitation (preferred)
