Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response Plan – Update

The Victorian Government has announced significant changes and restrictions to business in Victoria in an attempt to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic within the State.

The new Stage 4 restrictions were announced in relation to Metropolitan Melbourne on Monday 3rd August.

Given the constantly evolving situation over the past several months, William Adams has continued to monitor, review and update arrangements in order to comply with the requirements of state and federal government and Chief Health Officer advice. 

We have implemented roster and shift changes in our Melbourne metropolitan branches, namely Clayton and Laverton operations to comply with revised on-site staffing requirements, however our trading hours for Parts and Service operations remains unchanged, as do our current arrangements throughout regional Victoria and Tasmania, which have been already operating under Stage 3 guidelines.

We are pleased to confirm that Caterpillar logistics remains robust, with parts supply from the Melbourne Distribution Centre at Tullamarine further supported by the Yatala facility in south east Queensland, and Singapore Distribution Centres. Caterpillar says that long term planning for the potential Stage 4 restrictions has ensured the impact of this week’s announcement will be minimal.   

Caterpillar provided the following advice over the past 24 hours:

  • Our supply chain remains in a strong position with normal service from our suppliers.  Dealers and Customers will continue to be supported out of Melbourne, Queensland, Singapore Distribution Centres and the entire Caterpillar Global supply Chain.
  • Throughout the challenges in 2020 we have exceeded our Stock and Emergency fill targets every month.
  • Our transportation teams are working closely with various service providers and we have secured and expedited airfreight slots especially where capacity was significantly constrained. 
  • We remain confident that going forward we will be able to maintain our supply chain performance while staying in compliance with government guidelines on Stage 4 restrictions in Victoria.

  1. We will continue to operate with no changes to branch phone numbers, and our online services, including Parts.cat.com for 24/7 parts transactions will remain unchanged.
  2. Other functions including Finance (creditor and debtor functions), Product Support and Sales Support will also continue.
  3. Field Service and Workshop operations continue from all branches as well as via regional resident field service personnel.
  4. Our Cat Rental Store also remains operational.
